World Malaria Day on April 25 was established and approved at the 60th World Health Assembly (WHA) in March 2007. World Malaria Day replaces the Africa Malaria Day initiative which began on April 25, 2001. The campaign is headed up by the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, a joint initiative that was launched in 1998 by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank.
